Intracellular macrostructure

Cells possess a variety of Ring-like macrostructure in cellsorganelles such as a nucleus, mitochondria, ribosome, and others. We observed that TBC1D24 protein, encoded by the TBC1D24 gene, which is a JAG associated with epileptic encephalopathy, formed a novel "ring"-like macrostructures in cells (arrowheads in the picture). TBC1D24 protein is a GTPase and thus the macrostructure is considered to be a regulatory structural basis for the enzymatic activity. Epileptic encephalopathy is a refractory syndrome for which a therapeutic strategy must be developed. We continue the research and please check our paper for more detail.
